We are pleased to share that the Bedford Society's Bloomsbury Walk has been rescheduled for Tuesday 22 September 2026.
The Bedford Society welcomes alumni to join us for a guided walk around the many buildings and places of historical interest in Bloomsbury, followed by refreshments in Bedford Square.
The walk will be led by two Camden Tourist Guides, Judy Dixon and Cathy Chivers. Biographies of the two guides can be found in the drop-down boxes at the bottom of this page. There will be two concurrent tours, each lasting around 90 minutes.
Date: Tuesday 22 September 2026.
Time: 2 pm start.
Location: The Bedford Room, 11 Bedford Square.
Tickets: £20 per person, which includes the tour and all refreshments.
The walking tour will be split into two groups, with a maximum of 15 in each. As such, this event has a strict capacity of 30 attendees.
Schedule of event:
2 pm - meet in the Bedford Room, 11 Bedford Square, for tea, coffee and biscuits.
2.30 pm - tours begin, lasting approximately 90 minutes.
4 pm - tours reconvene at 11 Bedford Square for drinks and nibbles.
Walking tour accessibility:
We understand that some people may be concerned about their ability to take part in a 90-minute walking tour. We want to assure you that the walk will be at a gentle pace with frequent stops, and that the Bedford Room at 11 Bedford Square will be open for the duration of the tour for any attendees who need to retire from the walk at any time. Tour Guides
Judy Dixey
After graduating from Oxford, Judy spent most of her full-time career in arts administration. Her final job was as Director of VocalEyes, a charity making the arts accessible to blind and partially sighted people. She is currently a Liberal Democrat Councillor for Camden.
Cathy Chivers
Cathy graduated with an Honours degree in Arts and Design and spent her working life in the world of antiques, maps and jewellery. For the past 18 years she has also been a volunteer Visitor Host at the Tate Modern, where she gives short talks on individual 20th-century artists.
