Royal Holloway’s recent alumni-led event at the Palace of Westminster brought together Royal Holloway graduates working across politics, government and the civil service for an evening of conversation, connection, and collaboration.

The evening was made possible with the support of alumnus Daniel Atherton (Politics and International Relations, 2017), who helped to host the reception within the Palace of Westminster once again. This sector-specific event created a relaxed and engaging environment for Royal Holloway alumni to reconnect with fellow graduates, exchange insights, and reflect on their shared experiences and professional journeys since leaving the university.

Kaat Smets, Head of the Department of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy, welcomed our guests and outlined the various ways alumni can get involved, including through the placement-based course Politics in Action. If you are interested in supporting this initiative by offering a placement to a third-year student, you can find out more here.

The reception provided a valuable networking opportunity for those working across Parliament, government departments, and the wider civil service, sparking lively conversations about careers, current affairs, and the value of alumni connections in public service.
