Our campus is ranked no.14 in the world for the performing arts by the QS World University Rankings 2024; we are the highest ranked UK university in this global league table. The 2025 Good University Guide ranks us no.4 for Music in the UK, and we are no.10 in the UK for Music in the Complete University Guide 2025 and the Guardian University Guide 2025.

All these league tables rank us as no.1 in the UK for music research, a position we have held since the results of the Research Excellence Framework 2021 (Complete University Guide 2022–2025).

We have outstanding results for graduate prospects and are rated no.3 in the UK by the Good University Guide for the proportion of our graduates in employment or further study 15 months after graduation. This result reflects the employability skills embedded across our curriculum, including modules on digital creative entrepreneurship and music pedagogy, and the placements we offer to students.

Our world-leading culture and facilities

Royal Holloway Music students benefit from outstanding facilities including professional-level recording studios, four production suites, a world music studio, and unique Victorian performing venues such as our chapel and Picture Gallery. As an all-Steinway school, we offer our students exclusive use of Steinway or Steinway-designed pianos for teaching, practice and performance.

Our lively musical life includes choirs, orchestras and a huge range of student-led ensembles from the award-winning Royal Holloway Brass Band (ranked no.7 in the UK UniBrass competition 2025) to our student-led societies for opera and music theatre.
