Royal Holloway's students and staff show support for Fairtrade

  • Date17 March 2025

As part of the University’s on-going commitment to Fairtrade and ethical trading, a selection of Fairtrade suppliers were invited to campus to showcase their products.

Students and staff at the University were able to enjoy free samples, learn about the suppliers’ ethical trading practices and where their products could be purchased on campus. Suppliers included Clipper tea, Matthew Algie coffee, hot chocolate and snacks, Lemonaid, Karma drinks, Ombar Chocolate, Kaytea and Nestlé.

The University's in-house catering team also served complimentary homemade chocolate brownie bites, baked using Fairtrade cocoa. Student and staff views of Fairtrade had been captured over the preceding months via an online survey culminating with one lucky winner being selected at random to win a hamper of free Fairtrade products. The event was very well attended, with lots of positive feedback received from both suppliers and attendees, many of whom expressed an interest in attending another event in the future.
