As Royal Holloway’s catering facilities were required to close this summer due to the pandemic, the university has donated all unused stock from the catering outlets and kitchens across campus to good causes.
Three separate donations have been made to the Runnymede Food Bank, Bookham Community Fridge and Lavender Catering, to ensure all stock can be re-distributed and avoid unnecessary waste. All three organisations have been preparing and delivering food for those in the local area who are struggling to provide for themselves, whether that is because of financial difficulties or due to their clinical vulnerability.
Royal Holloway’s donations included flour, rice, cereals, sauces, soft drinks, crisps, biscuits and snack bars. All three organisations have expressed their gratitude for the donations made by Royal Holloway, which will help them care for the communities they serve during these unprecedented times.
