We are delighted to invite visitors to experience our series of mini documentaries specially made to mark this year’s Heritage Open Days, England’s largest festival of history and culture, organised by the National Trust. With this year’s theme of “Edible “England”, Royal Holloway invites our visitors to enjoy a walking tour of its catering facilities.
The first episode in the series takes visitors behind the scenes of our modern university kitchen in the grade 1 listed Founder’s Building. A tour of the hidden “under kitchens” is followed by a cookery masterclass given by the current Head Chef, Gary Smith from a suffrage cook book.
A suffrage luncheon is the theme for the second installment in our mini-series, with Poultry Casserole and Apple Beggarman on the menu, all enjoyed in the grand surroundings of the Founder’s Dining Hall.
The third and final part of the series, focuses on Royal Holloway’s stunning Victorian Dining Hall, with curator Laura MacCulloch sharing some of the history behind the dining hall and its artefacts.
We hope you enjoy the experience!
