Fans of Silent Witness may have noticed that episodes 3 and 4 of series 27 of the popular BBC crime drama entitled “Grievance Culture” featured Royal Holloway acting as the backdrop for the fictitious University of Criminology.

When a disgruntled professor of criminology at the university is passed over for promotion, events take a truly sinister turn, and the interview panel begins to be targeted.

Multiple scenes were set at Royal Holloway in the Windsor, Davison, Bourne and Boilerhouse Buildings as well as in the Picture Gallery and Victorian Corridor. Outside footage of the campus can also be seen in the pedestrianised Founder’s Square, the colonnades and both quadrangles.

Royal Holloway’s distinctive Founder’s Building and stunning grounds have proved to be a popular location in the production of a range of TV shows and film including Call the Midwife, You, Antiques Roadshow, The Split, Great British Railway Journeys, Cheat, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Downtown Abbey and Midsomer Murders.
