Royal Holloway's Commercial Services team has won a CUBO (College and University Business Officers) award in the “Campus Experience of the Year” category.
The judges particularly commended the University for its use of new technologies in enhancing the Student Experience. These included:
- new kitchen software which provides customers easy access to nutritional and allergy advice across the university’s catering operations;
- Bluetooth Low Energy installed in student bedrooms which has enabled students to unlock their bedroom doors with their phones dramatically reducing the number of lockouts and
- a software up-grade which has enabled a “drive-through” registration process at the start of the academic year, significantly refining the checking in process.
Awards Chair Jane Donachy praised the exceptional standard of entries, calling the awards “a fantastic platform to showcase the hard work of university commercial services staff”. “University commercial services are an essential part of the student’s life, with most of their personal time being spent in halls of residence, restaurants and coffee shops,” she said. “The awards are critical to motivate and reward hard-working staff in the commercial areas that work tirelessly to improve the student experience.”
